<p>Support for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL is currently experimental, but those along
with the upcoming Pixel 4a will become the recommended devices due to longer support
and incremental security improvements for the device support code and firmware. The
Pixel 4a will end up being the device recommended for most people, especially with the
replacement of the fingerprint scanner with IR-based face scanning. We plan to use the
fingerprint scanner to implement 2-factor unlocking, and while it would be possible to
do the same with face unlock we lack the resources to do both, especially since the UX
design would be significantly different.</p>
